According to a decree, Guinea-Bissau's president dismissed five government ministers

According to a decree released on Sunday, Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo dismissed five government ministers, including the ministers of interior and defence.

He didn’t state the reason for the sacking of the ministers, who are all members of parties loyal to the president or the Embalo’s MADEM-15 party.

The move augments the political uncertainty in the tiny West African nation, where Embalo’s declared electoral win after a December vote has been contested by runner-up Domingos Simoes Pereira and his powerful PAIGC party.

The government ministers’ dismissal comes ahead of a parliamentary assembly on Monday, when lawmakers are expected to debate which political alliances have the right to govern the country.
